Christine Sorensen appointed Dean of Formation

Uniting Mission and Education has appointed Rev Dr Christine Sorensen to the role of Dean of Formation at United Theological College, starting in January 2017. Christine is currently Formation Co-ordinator at the Centre for Theology and Ministry in Melbourne, where she oversees the formation program of candidates for Uniting Church specified ministries. Christine comes from the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand where she served as minister with St Peter’s Church, Ellerslie, Auckland. From 1990 to 2003 Christine was Principal of the United Bible Training Centre in Gujranwala, Pakistan. Christine holds the degrees of BSc (Auckland), BD (MCD), MA (Columbia) and PhD (Auckland, 2007). Carolyn Thornley’s Move

Carolyn Thornley, who has carried the Dean of Candidate and Field of Education and more recently Dean of Formation roles since 2008, is moving to an interim intentional ministry placement with the Riverina Presbytery. Carolyn begins her work there in late October but will be continuing part-time in the formation role through to the end of February to assist Christine in her transition into the formation program at UTC.
