RMU Field Days – Growing Healthy Churches

Event Details

The Rural Field Days are a chance to get together, network, share resources and stories, as well as engage with the bigger picture across the Uniting Church.  Growing Healthy Churches is designed to assist rural churches, small or large, with a broad range of information, tools and resources to maintain and improve their health.

Keynote Speakers:
Lisa Wells, Press Go Catalyst with the Presbyterian Church of
Aotearoa New Zealand.  Lisa will present four sessions on the nurture of healthy congregations.
Mark Faulkner, Director of Rural and Remote Ministries,
NSW/ACT Synod (beginning in August).  Mark will be speaking on a vision for encouraging scattered communities.
Christine Sorensen, Dean of Formation, NSW/ACT Synod,
based at the Centre for Ministry.  Christine will speak on ways we continually respond to the challenges we face as disciples of Christ.



Staff from Uniting Mission & Education (Resourcing Team and UTC Faculty), Uniting Resources and Uniting will lead workshops.

Workshop topics include:

  • Healthy church governance for church councils, Presbyteries and committees,
  • Health checks for congregations,
  • Working with sales proceeds,
  • Social media,
  • Taking the pulse on our work with children, youth and families,
  • Growing a healthy church in a healthy environment,
  • Music in worship,
  • Hospitality with refugees and migrant workers.

Please Note: Registrations Close – Thursday, 17 August at 11:30 p.m.

Payment Processing Instructions:

To pay by credit card:

  1. select the quantity of tickets you wish to purchase.  Then,
  2. click on the green ‘Order Now’ button.  Then,
  3. complete the Online Registration Form that appears next.  Then,
  4. click on either the: MasterCard, Visa, or PayPal icons that appear at the bottom of the registration form to progress to payment processing.  Then,
  5. select your preferred method of payment (i.e. ‘Pay with Credit or Debit Card’ – the grey button that appears on the screen).  Then,
  6. on the following ‘PayPal Guest Checkout’ screen, submit your: credit card, billing address, and contact details, then click ‘Pay Now’ to complete your purchase.
    (When paying by credit card, you are under no obligation to accept the offer to: ‘Create a PayPal account?’ near the bottom of the checkout screen.)

To pay by cheque:

  1. select the quantity of registration tickets you wish to purchase.  Then,
  2. click on the green ‘Order Now’ button.  Then,
  3. complete the Online Registration Form that appears next.  Then,
  4. click on the blue word ‘Show’ that appears under the ‘Other Payment Options’ text at the bottom of the registration form.  Then,
  5. click on the blue ‘Pay By Cheque’ button that appears at the bottom of the registration form to complete your registration.  Then,
  6. post your cheque, made payable to: ‘Uniting Mission and Education’, to the address provided on your invoice.

Please, no cash upon arrival at the Field Days.

    • Morning Tea and Afternoon Tea (each day) will be provided by the members of Dubbo Uniting Church.
    • Lunches (each day), and Dinner on Sunday night (27 Aug.) will not be provided.

There are plenty of cafes close by, so it’s a great opportunity to stretch the legs and get some fresh air.  Anyone with mobility issues will be assisted.
