Raymond Joso starts as Mission Initiatives Consultant

Uniting Mission & Education announces the appointment of Rev Dr Raymond Joso to the position of Mission Initiatives Consultant in the Resourcing Team within United Theological College, based at the Centre for Ministry, North Parramatta.

Raymond’s role will be focused on processes and relationships that create or respond to new opportunities in mission and ministry. Raymond will nurture leaders, centres and networks, initiate research and creative reflection, and contribute to leadership for missional thinking and new expressions for the church engaging with community. He will take the lead in fostering Uniting Church partnerships with community organisations.

Raymond has served as a pastor with three Indonesian UCA congregations, a minister with Sydney Cheil Korean 2nd Generation congregation, and as a University chaplain in Western Sydney University. He is a member of Pitt St Uniting Church.

Raymond’s focus on the mission of the church in the community, discipleship and lifelong learning, makes him an asset to not only the Resourcing Team, but also to the wider college community and the Uniting Learning Network.

Raymond has a PhD in chemistry, and is a chartered chemist of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute , continuing his work in research and teaching. He has spent the last eighteen months as a senior lecturer in the College of Medicine University of Malawi, funded through the Australian Volunteer International Development Program.

Raymond starts in his new role on Monday August 17. His induction will be held on Wednesday August 26, at the Centre for Ministry.
