Uniting Mission and Education was restructured throughout 2018-19 to more closely align its organisation with its purpose. In the NSW & ACT Synod By-Laws, UME exists to assist the Church and equip the Synod to provide:
Strategy, Research, Education, Theological Insight and Resources for leadership, discipleship, mission and ministry.
The new structure of UME includes four teams:
United Theological College Faculty (which provides theological education for all, including ministry candidates)
Vital Leadership (focuses on leadership development and formation)
Mission Enablement (including Saltbush, which aims to gather the scattered communities)
Mission Strategy (including the Pulse team which focuses on ministry for under 35s and NCLS Research).
