Uniting Mission and Education was restructured throughout 2018-19 to more closely align its organisation with its purpose. In the NSW & ACT Synod By-Laws, UME exists to assist the Church and equip the Synod to provide:
Strategy, Research, Education, Theological Insight and Resources for leadership, discipleship, mission and ministry.
The new structure of UME includes four teams:
- United Theological College Faculty (which provides theological education for all, including ministry candidates)
- Vital Leadership (focuses on leadership development and formation)
- Mission Enablement (including Saltbush, which aims to gather the scattered communities)
- Mission Strategy (including the Pulse team which focuses on ministry for under 35s and NCLS Research).
