Now combined with UCA President’s National Evangelists Gathering.


How can we be the church of Jesus Christ in a secular world?

Gospel Yarning will again inspire, empower and connect us.  This event will significantly raise your understanding of how the context of secularism affects the church, and introduce tools for strengthening your ministry in that context.  This affects the whole church.

Venue: Uniting Church Centre for Ministry
16 Masons Drive, North Parramatta
Cost: Full 3-day Conference – $200.00 (Adult) /
$109.50 (Concession)
Single-day – $80.00 (Adult) /
$36.50 (Concession)
Free for UTC Candidates for Ministry.
Catering: Registration fee includes lunch on each day.

in the Uniting Church in Australia and Uniting NSW/ACT.



What we’ll do:

We will meet to talk / talanoa / yarn in OIKOS groups, open space sessions, elective discussions and share our stories.

 9 am Morning Worship
 9:30 am Rev Dr Peter Hobson, Wesley Church Brisbane will speak –
“How is this secular environment inviting our mission?”
 Tea Break
 11 am Umu-Yarning – an open space discussion
 Lunch Break
 2 pm Short Topics spread across the conference.

What’s the challenge? What’s working?

  • Christian chaplaincy in secular agencies and schools
  • What turns a Church around?
  • The future mission of CALD churches in a secular environment
  • Discipleship today
  • Youth ministry emerging
  • And any other topics that emerge
 3:30 pm Theological Response to the day – “What I am hearing/not hearing?”

an open exchange over the various inputs.

Keynote Speaker: Rev Dr Peter Hobson, Wesley Mission Queensland / Albert Street UCA, Brisbane.
Formerly a local minister, university chaplain and lecturer, Peter is a good communicator, and a story-teller who is a good thinker about the world we seek to reach.

Paul Montague image
Theological Respondent and Comedian: Pastor Paul Montague.
One-half of Pirate Church, Paul knows how to tell us the truth about ourselves, make us uncomfortable like the Holy Spirit does, and helps us to see the road ahead.
