The Rural Ministry Unit (RMU) has gathered within the Synod of NSW & ACT over the past 25 years. It has been a group through which those in rural ministry and congregations – lay and ordained – are supported and encouraged. Over this period there has been significant change in rural communities and in rural congregations. We find ourselves now as the church in a time of challenge , but also of opportunity in the ways we support rural Christian communities. This is the task of the Rural Ministry Unit.
The work of the RMU includes:
– Offering support and guidance to the Director of Rural & Remote Ministry Initiatives
– Offering vision and discernment concerning rural and the way we encourage rural Christian communities
– Overseeing the publishing of Ruminations as a means of affirming and connecting rural Christian communities
– Offering opportunities for people from rural Christian communities to gather for encouragement and renewal
– Enhancing Synod awareness of the work of the RMU, rural, remote Ministry an rural Christian communities
