Uniting Mission & Education would like to thank the staff, students, colleagues, community members, UCA and Presbytery members that attended and shared in the Commissioning Service held at The Centre for Ministry yesterday.
Held in the St Andrews Chapel, at the Centre for Ministry – the home of Uniting Mission & Education and United Theological College – new members of staff were commissioned and inducted into service.
The UCA NSW/ACT Moderator Simon Hansford and General Secretary Jane Fry, presided over the service, with the sermon provided by the Moderator.
The newly commissioned UME Executive Director, Dr Glen Powell, remarked:
“This service was an event which symbolised an important step in the transformation of Uniting Mission and Education. The great music, culturally and generationally diverse turnout, and the participation of key Synod, Presbytery, and Congregational leaders contributed to a great celebration of hope and optimism.”
“The renewed vision for UME includes a new emphasis on multidisciplinary teams building capacity in Presbyteries and Congregations, working toward collaboratively building capacity in our Living Church to enable:
- Transformative Mission,
- Effective Leadership, and
- Confident Disciples.”
